"I was at the point where anything - prescription drugs, non-prescription drugs - I would take", he told The Sun on Sunday newspaper in his first interview since leaving rehab.

Ant was not diagnosed as an alcoholic although he admitted he has taken a break from the booze and he plans to go without for a little longer, but that he is looking forward to having a pint - even joking about the upcoming series of I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here. The paper reports that there started Ant's dependence on a cocktail of drugs, including addictive painkillers codeine and tramadol, along with sleeping pills.

"That's something to look forward to but I have to get well first".

Ant McPartlin, of popular TV presenting duo Ant and Dec, has opened up about his secret two-year battle with painkiller addiction and depression, following his two-month stint in rehab. It sends you insane. "It was to the point of hearing things, seeing things in the garden and still the pain was getting worse", he said.

The star said he was "depressed through the whole thing" because he was in pain and immobile. He then had a botched operation on it the next year.

'When I first went in I was so bad I was just happy to have someone looking after us. But then we found my pain had been caused by a hole in my knee bone - it was shot.

The star claimed he didn't think it was a problem, but added "You just keep taking them... they're very hard to come off".

Ant said he visited a number of independent private doctors to get more tramadol prescribed.

"The ambulance came and took me to Chelsea and Westminster".

He then revealed he was using a risky cocktail of drugs to get through work commitments.

"It was five in the morning and I was screaming in pain so I rang Lisa".

"There was a point on Saturday Night Takeaway previous year when we performed with Take That".

"I knew there was a dance routine involved".

It is expected that McPartlin will return to screens in November, when he will host the next installment of I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.

Ant's hospital dash finally made him see sense and he went to rehab.
