More than 100 people gathered north of the duplex where Alyssa and Zaylynn were killed earlier this week. Counts of evading arrest and unauthorized use of a vehicle were dismissed or declined so he could be released to Kansas authorities.

Harvey County Undersheriff Shawn Chapman says a team of investigators from that department were bringing suspect Keith Hawkins back to Kansas on Friday. It was not immediately clear whether he's been charged with the killings.

Newton Police were called to a home shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday where they found 24-year-old Alyssa Runyon and her daughter, 4-year-old Zaylynn Paz dead inside.

Orange, pink, and polka dot, the balloons soared skyward in memory of a woman who relatives say had a voice like an angel and her young daughter, who shared her joy-filled spirit.
