A single-engine private plane crashed Friday near the Lenawee County Airport, injuring the two people on board, Lenawee County Undersheriff Troy Bevier said.

Mr Berg's daughter, Micayla, was at Caloundra Airport on Saturday.

After the woman flagged down a passing motorist, authorities were notified around 2:30 Friday afternoon, but the crash actually happened in the morning.

Pilot Ben Berg, who was raised in South Africa, was trapped in the wreckage for more than an hour as emergency crews worked to free him. The Federal Aviation Administration is on the way to the site to investigate the cause of the crash.

Two other occupants of the plane - a man and a woman whose ages are unknown - were able to free themselves from the wreckage shortly after the 11.45am crash. The plane crashed into a tree and broke apart. They were taken to a Toledo-area hospital with serious injuries, officials said.

The LifeFlight Rescue Helicopter landed just minutes ago.

A Police Media spokesman confirmed there had been "some sort of incident" but details were sketchy.
