Wozniacki has yet to win a title in 2017, but will once again have the chance to change that after building on her epic quarter-final win over world number one Karolina Pliskova.

Later on Saturday, Halep will be back in action against Svitolina, while Denmark's Wozniacki, the sixth seed, takes on American Sloane Stephens for a place in the final.

An early break put Wozniacki in control of the opening set and the Dane swiftly recovered from dropping serve at the start of the second.

Wozniacki will face the victor of Saturday night's semifinal between defending champion and No. 2 seed Simona Halep of Romania and No. 5 seed Elina Svitolina of Ukraine.

Halep cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory in less than an hour over the Czech Republic's Barboro Strycova, advancing to face France's Caroline Garcia on Friday.

Wimbledon champion Garbine Muguruza tumbled out of the Rogers Cup in Toronto after losing her rain-delayed quarter-final 6-4 4-6 3-6 against Elina Svitolina.

After beating Garcia, Halep said: "It's not going to be easy, at this level, to play two matches in the same day. I just want to give my best, enjoy the match, and try to fight".
