Rookie Tre'Davious White and E.J. Gaines will man the two corner spots this year for the Bills.

The Bills mysteriously traded Sammy Watkins to the Rams on Friday.

Watkins, age 24 and listed at 6-foot-1, 211 pounds, nearly certainly will line up on the outside and be the Rams' primary deep threat. So whatever my job is, that's I'm going to do it to the best of my ability. If guys like that, two starters including one who was a No. 4 overall draft pick just three years ago, can be dealt, then anybody is in play. They'll either use the franchise tag next season to work on a contract or extend Watkins during this upcoming season.

Watkins showed hints of that potential in Buffalo.

The former Clemson standout has 153 catches for 2,459 yards and 17 touchdowns in three National Football League seasons despite undergoing multiple foot surgeries. The 24-year-old played just eight games last season, finishing with 28 catches for 430 yards and a couple scores. The Bills also have just 14 players whom they've drafted, not including this year's six-player class. Watkins will finally be in an offense that likes to throw, though, and new Rams coach Sean McVay had a lot of success while offensive coordinator with the Redskins.

"You put one step in front of the other and we move on", he said.

Add in rookies Cooper Kupp and Gerald Everett, an athletic tight end drafted in the second round, and that should be enough of an improved supporting cast to judge what kind of strides Goff has made.

Watkins had a team-high 39 receiving yards on four catches in Thursday's preseason opener against the Minnesota Vikings. The Rams host the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday to begin their exhibition schedule. Foot injuries have been his bane, causing him to miss 11 games the past two seasons. Sad to see him leave, but got to look forward.
