Android O would be the last major patch for the OnePlus 3/3T

There's now no word as to when Android O will be released for the 3/3T, but with Google expected to release public builds before the month is over, we'd hope that OnePlus can push it out before 2017 is over. Well, it looks like the company has learned from its mistakes and is now communicating with its fan base more often than not. OnePlus' Head of Product confirmed recently that the OnePlus 3 and 3T will receive the highly-anticipated Android O update at some point, but that will be the last major OS update these two smartphones will get. A higher frequency of updates for a brand new phone isn't unexpected though, and we generally see a few from major OEMs which are trying to fix bugs and improve stability for a newly released device. It's worth noting that OnePlus has been pushing continuous updates through the beta program to test the new features before pushing a public release. Once Android O is released to the OnePlus 3 and 3T, OnePlus plans to shift its Open Beta Program to the OnePlus 5.

So there's been a surge in questions about software support for the OnePlus 3/3T on their forums and they made a decision to pool a few of them together for some answers.

After the OnePlus 2's very lukewarm response, there was much rejoicing when the OnePlus 3, and later the OnePlus 3T, turned out to be a return to form for OnePlus. The company has not revealed the timeline for pushing Android O update for both the devices, but we can expect it to be rolled out before the end of 2017.

Speaking about the next updates for the 3/3T, Oliver mentioned that the August security patches are going to be out "soon", while the OxygenOS 4.5 build will come "in the next 1-2 months".
