PDP convention: We can not afford another mistake -Mark

The committee is headed by the Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa.

Ahead of Saturday's non-elective convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former President of the Senate, David Mark, has launched an attack on those leaving his party, calling them fair weather friends.

He said, "It is a privilege given to every former PDP governor".

We will assume this mistake will be allowing the opposition party sweeping victory across the country's political clime.

In a statement yesterday in Abuja, the ex-minister also said the 2019 presidential aspirants from the 19 northern states should be subjected to one primary election, while aspirants for the party's chairmanship from the 17 states of the south should also be subjected to one primary. I have no reasons whatsoever to leave the party.

Many of our members that left earlier due to one form of disagreement or the other will return back to their party because the National Caretaker Committee has constituted a Reconciliation Committee as well as a Contact and Mobilisation Committee to reach out to them.

"From the way things are going presently in this country, i believe Nigerians will realise that PDP is the only alternative that can bring Nigeria out of her present economic challenges", he added.

Makarfi said, "Yesterday (Wednesday), we had a meeting with the leaders from the zone to resolve the issues".

Indeed. And the electorate can see through all the politicking and selfish interests in both the exits and the speeches of acceptance in new parties and what have you.

He said having just survived the ugly phase, "I am impressed by the renewed enthusiasm and commitment of members towards rebuilding the party after the protracted leadership tussle".

He appealed to the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa-led Convention Committee to ensure the conduct of a convention that would unite the party and provide a sense of belonging to its members.

"We have come this far through a tortuous journey".

He expressed optimism about the future of the party after the convention, but warned members that the party could not afford to make another mistake.

"I have risen to where I am on the platform of the party".
