Despite his apparent demise in Avatar, Stephen Lang is confirmed to be reprising his role for James Cameron's upcoming sequels, and now Cameron has revealed that he will in fact be the main villain in all four of the new movies.

"If I don't want to do Avatar, I'm not going to do Avatar", Brolin said in an interview with Esquire. James Cameron's fucking calling me this name and that name. "Whatever. If James Cameron came to me and said "Hey man, why'd you say that?' I'd go, 'Because it happened", Brolin told Empire magazine. His other projects include "Only the Brave", "Suburbicon" and "The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter". Based on the cast assembled for 2009's Avatar, it can be presumed that Brolin was presumably in the running for the role of Colonel Miles Quaritch, who was portrayed by Stephen Lang in the movie. Amusing how things work out in Hollywood.

Avatar 2 will open on December 18th 2020, followed by Avatar 3 on December 17th 2021, Avatar 4 on December 20th 2024 and Avatar 5 on December 19th 2025.
