The 16-test All Black will join the English club at the 2018/19 season after signed a two-year deal.

Although Bristol were relegated from the English Premiership last season, they have invested heavily in their squad, bringing in no fewer than 19 new players that include, Irish global Ian Madigan, and former Leinster and Connacht hooker Jason Harris-Wright.

The fullback has signed a two-year deal with English club Bristol where he'll join his one-time coach at the Blues Pat Lam, and long-time Blues and All Blacks teammate Steven Luatua at the newly-demoted second division side.

Piutau will also join his older brother, Siale, at Ashton Gate after the 31-year-old Tonga captain moved to the Championship outfit from Wasps in December of last year.

"We're thrilled to have an individual of his enormous quality and experience to add to our ranks".

"Obviously I've worked with him before, and he's not only a superb rugby player but he's a great team man and he'll have a big impact here, on and off the field".

He was voted Pro12 Player's Player of the Season in 2017 and named in the Aviva Premiership Team of the Season in 2016.

"Charles is excited by our vision of 'inspiring our community through rugby success.' His determination and attitude to improve as a player and person are exactly the sort of world class characteristics we want in every player who pulls on the Bristol jersey".

Charles Piutau on the burst for Ulster.

By sorting my playing future early, I can focus entirely on Ulster this season and what the team can achieve in the Pro14 and Europe. The management and players really made me feel part of the family and that will make it extremely hard to leave when the time comes.
