The Octavia might not have been Skoda's first launch under the Volkswagen Group, but as the first to dip into its new owner's parts bin, it's been a vital part of the brand's transformation since. SE Tech, which includes navigation and full-LED headlights, is likely to be the big fleet seller, while those with more flexibility can opt into luxurious Laurin & Klement, sporty petrol or diesel vRS and off-road-tuned Scout.

The Octavia RS has been confirmed in three trims: 230hp 2.0 TSI petrol mated to a six-speed manual or a six-speed DSG, 184hp 2.0 TDI diesel mated to a six-speed manual and a six-speed DSG and 184hp 2.0 TDI diesel mated to a six-speed DSG in AWD avatar. The Kodiaq SUV will hit showrooms later this year.

The facelift version of the Octavia is on its way to India and will be launched by the end of August this year.

As far as equipment goes, the Skoda Octavia RS for India will get more aggressive body kit, blacked-out trim bits and larger alloy wheels to make it look different from the regular Octavia. A great all-round package which has hardly changed, save for its distinctive new quad-lamp headlights and some updated technology on board. Infotainment duties will be carried out by a 9.2-inch touchscreen system replete with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink. Safety will be covered by nine airbags, ESP and a park-assist system. The auto also has a variety of driver assistance systems and latest Skoda infotainment systems as well.

Though based on the Indian Rapid, the sedan will borrow bits from the worldwide Monte Carlo.

The Monte Carlo Edition will be available in red colour while the ORVMs, alloy wheels and grille, diffuser and spoiler will be painted black.

Mechanically, the Rapid is expected to remain the same and continue with the 110hp, 1.5-litre unit that made its debut on the Ameo. It will also have an option of a 1.6-litre petrol unit.

Skoda officials confirmed the arrival of Rapid Monte Carlo edition, Octavia RS and Kodiaq in 2017.
