Ryan Kent has signed a new long-term contract at Liverpool, the Merseyside club have confirmed.

Jurgen Klopp has now handed the young winger a new deal ahead of the Reds' Premier League opener against Watford on Saturday, live on Sky Sports Premier League.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan with Barnsley, having come through the ranks at Anfield since he was seven.

"I am with a manager here that is willing to play young players and invest his time into my progression as a player", Kent - who has been with Liverpool since he was 7 - told the club's official website.

He made 47 appearances for Barnsley and also had a temporary stint with Coventry City during the 2015-16 season.

"It's pay off for all the hard work that's been put in over the last few years, so it's a big achievement for me, my mum, my dad, my family and friends that have been with me throughout this big journey".

"Liverpool has the right foundations to make me a good player in the future".

"It was an easy decision".

"But right now I am just concentrating on my time here at Liverpool and if I can push into the first team then I will try to do that".

An English worldwide with one appearance at the U20 FA Cup, the winger has become a key part of Klopp's first team plans this summer after appearing in seven of eight friendly games during the offseason.
