Premier Brad Wall has gone to his Facebook account Thursday morning to indicate he will be making a "special" announcement.

He will remain premier until a next Saskatchewan Party leader is chosen but now there is no timeline for that.

"It is hard to lay this duty down, to retire from what has been and what will always be the honour of my working life".

Wall is now in his third term as Premier of the province.

In 2004, he was acclaimed as leader of the Saskatchewan Party, and, in November 2007, he was elected premier.

"I've asked the Saskatchewan Party to begin the process of electing a new leader, who will become the next premier".

The 51-year-old routinely places high in opinion polls ranking the country's most popular premiers and his knack for the zinger soundbite has made him a national political figure. Party to a historic landslide victory over the Saskatchewan NDP taking 49 seats and leaving the NDP with only 9 seats.
