Armenia's Ministry of Defense has refuted a news report circulated by the Azerbaijani press yesterday evening that Armenian military forces fired on the village of Garalar (in Azerbaijan's Tovuz district) and injured a 13-year-old boy.

On the Azerbaijani side, the monitoring was held by Andrzej Kasprzyk, ambassador and the OSCE chairperson-in-office personal representative, and Mikhail Olaru, field assistant of the OSCE chairperson-in-office personal representative.

The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict entered its modern phase when the Armenian SRR made territorial claims against the Azerbaijani SSR in 1988. The Armenian Defense Ministry once again reminds that the Armenian Armed Forces never and in no way target the civilian settlements.

The 1994 ceasefire agreement was followed by peace negotiations.

Resolutions 822, 853, 874 and 884 of the UN Security Council, which were passed in short intervals in 1993, and other resolutions adopted by the UN General Assembly, PACE, OSCE, OIC, and other organizations require Armenia to unconditionally withdraw its troops from Nagorno-Karabakh.
