Authorities say a man wanted on attempted murder charges for allegedly breaking into a home and attacking two women has been arrested in MA.

On Tuesday, a Westborough police officer was driving on an abandoned road that runs from Rte.

Ferreira, age 54 of 99 Vinton St. Melrose, was arrested in Westborough this afternoon by Westborough Police Officers Michael Daniels and Chris Atchue without incident.

Police said Ferreira knew and targeted the victims.

Ferreira was charged with two counts of assault and battery with a risky weapon, two counts of kidnapping with serious bodily injury, armed assault to rob, home invasion, larceny of a motor vehicle, attempted murder, and mayhem, according to a Melrose police statement.

Additionally, Ferreira has six motor vehicle default warrants out of Peabody District Court.

"It looks like he'd been living in the auto for a while", Gordon said.

Westborough Police Chief Alan Gordon told NBC Boston that Ferreira looked disheveled and confused when he was apprehended. "He looked exhausted. No fight at all". NECN reports he used duct tape and wire.

One woman was struck in the face and both women were injured. One of the victims escaped and notified police, NECN reports. Police were called when a neighbor spotted the woman outside, bleeding. "My first thoughts are with the victims of this crime, who have been seriously injured, and it is my honest hope that they can fully recover with the support of our community".

The motive for the attack is still unclear. It wasn't immediately known if he's been assigned a public defender.
