A report emerged on Tuesday that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) had criticized President Donald Trump the day prior for his griping about how ineffective Congress is.

Hannity, one of President Donald Trump's most avid defenders in the media, sent nearly identical tweets late Tuesday and early Wednesday.

"YOU are a WEAK, SPINELESS leader who does not keep his word and you need to Retire [sic]", Hannity lobbed at McConnell.

McConnell cited Trump's political inexperience and said the president had "excessive expectations about how quickly things happen in the democratic process". (Trump has called Senate Republicans "fools").

UPDATE: 6:57 A.M.: This piece was updated with Hannity's similar tweet sent Tuesday night.

Hannity criticized him and House Speaker Paul Ryan (R., Wis.) during the campaign a year ago for not being sufficiently supportive of Trump.
