Pacey and versatile having played all the way up the right flank, Cancelo is already a Portugal global with three caps in five games, and it's claimed that Chelsea watched him in action for Portugal at the Under-21 European Championships in Poland earlier this summer.

Having previously been linked with the vacant right-back spot at Tottenham, Cancelo could yet favour a switch to west London over north London.

The 23-year-old made one appearance for Benfica before joining Valencia on a season-long loan in 2014.

Chelsea are interested in signing Joao Cancelo from Valencia, according to Sky sources.

Sky Sports claims that the Italian has now set his sights on Valencia right-back Joao Cancelo, who can also operate on the right wing, and would, therefore, be a good fit for Chelsea's 3-4-3 formation.

Portugal have a plethora of talented right-backs at their disposal. The 23-year-old featured for Portugal at the European Under-21 Championships.
