Nashville International Airport has landed a nonstop flight connecting Nashville and London via British Airways and to begin operating in May 2018, multiple media sources reported Tuesday. It will operate five days a week and tickets are available to purchase on starting today.

London-bound passengers who want to fly the A380 will need to take the British Airways flight departing Chicago at 5:30 p.m.

Simon Brooks, British Airways' senior vice president for North America, said, "Nashville has all the qualities that we look for in a new destination, a fast growing economy, thriving cultural scene and strong connections to Europe".

"London is a gateway to and from all of Europe. Thanks to our partners at British Airways, we will bring more visitors directly to our city on one of the largest and most exciting aircraft in the world".

Sean Doyle, British Airways' director of network and alliances, said: "We are incredibly excited to be adding Nashville to our extensive global network, making us the only carrier flying non-stop between Europe and Tennessee".
