Leicester have completed a move for the highly rated George Thomas from Coventry on a three-year deal.

The Wales Under-20 worldwide scored the decisive goal at Wembley in May as the Sky Blues beat Oxford United 2-1 to win the EFL Trophy after spending a loan spell at Yeovil Town in 2015, making five appearances for the Glovers.

Leicester-born Thomas came through the ranks at Coventry before making his debut as a 16-year-old against Leyton Orient in January 2014.

Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare confirmed that Leicester have rejected a bid for Riyad Mahrez from AS Roma.

Thomas told LCFC TV: "I've played 50-odd games at professional level, so maybe I have got that head start over other 20-year-olds in the country".

He is a product of Coventry's academy and the club offered him a new deal, ensuring they were due compensation for a player who had been on the books for 11 years.

"It's my hometown, I only live 10-15 minutes away in Wigston".

Having also recruited the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho, Vicente Iborra, Harry Maguire and Eldin Jakupovic this summer, the Foxes can be backed at 4/5 to achieve a top table finish. "It's always good to play for your hometown team so hopefully I can push on from here", he explained.

Looking ahead to his maiden campaign with the Foxes, Thomas concluded: "The aim is to play first team football and try and help the Club".
