Distribution partner Star India has admitted the leak came from its website, and HBO has called in the FBI to investigate the hack that lead to a number of episode and script leaks.

Meanwhile, Sony Pictures also experienced a similar hack in 2014, where 200 GB of sensitive data was exposed, resulting in the ouster of co-chair Amy Pascal.

The hackers have apparently already leaked what appears to be the personal data of at least one senior HBO executive, including details of her finance and health plan.

The hackers behind the recent HBO breach earlier this week, who claim to have leaked unaired episodes of the network's shows, including the highly popular fantasy drama Game Of Thrones, have now threatened to release additional content from the hack on the coming Sunday.

HBO has also been in touch with Google, asking for links to leaked videos to be removed.

Season seven of Game of Thrones has been something of a disaster for HBO. "This is a grave issue and we are taking appropriate legal remedial action". We don't know if they have made a ransom demand to HBO in exchange for not leaking anything else. "The fact that you have law enforcement and a [cybersecurity] firm involved most likely means this will be a very large incident for HBO".
