Emergency services have evacuated a number of apartment buildings in Wolli Creek after a crane collapsed into one building on Brodie Spark Drive.

Some residents were woken by the noise of the crash.

"There's some fairly significant damage to the side of the building, a lot of shattered glass on the floor", he said.

Resident Simon Murphy had been anxious about the crane.

'They told us that when they rescue the crane it might fall into my building so we were evacuated us until the rescue team gets here and can start work but we don't know how long that will take, ' Felicia Nguyen said.

The condition of the victims is not known, a NSW Ambulance spokesman said.

In a statement released a short time ago, police confirmed no one was inside the crane at the time.

Road closures are in place after a crane collapsed in Sydney's south today.

The crane fell just after 9.30am today.
