The Brewers had lost 11 of 14 contests before edging the Cardinals twice in the last three days, capped by Thursday's 2-1 triumph. Matt Garza gave up just one run over five-and-two-thirds innings in his return from the disabled list. Corey Knebel came in to secure the win and earn his 20th save of the season. He made a leaping catch over the wall to rob a Cardinal home run early on in the game.

The Brewers now sit one and a half games behind the Cubbies for the NL Central lead. Jesus Aguilar hit a solo homer in the third for the Crew, who took two-of-three in the series.

Ryan Braun owns a four-game hitting streak (6-for-15) and should be back in the lineup after resting Thursday for Milwaukee, which moved within 1 ½ games of the first-place Chicago Cubs in the NL Central.

Pregame coverage on WHBL starts at 5:35. The 24-year-old Californian had posted eight quality starts in the first nine of his career, losing the only time he did not achieve the feat July 19 at Oakland.
