Arsenal are still engaging in talks with Monaco over the possibility of Thomas Lemar moving to the Emirates stadium, despite the attacker linked to several clubs, such as Barcelona, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Man City.

Even though Monaco have repeatedly stated about in their reluctance to sell the 21-year-old, Arsenal have been steadfastly going after his signature.

While Arsenal would prefer to sell overseas, if they are to allow Sanchez to leave, an offer of £45m seems unlikely to be enough to convince them, and it remains to be seen if the Chilean would be tempted by Monaco, despite the huge wages on offer.

Now, Magee claims that the north Londoners are still poised to be able to clinch a deal for Lemar if they are prepared to up their bid by a further £50m.

"Sanchez has asked Arsenal for similar wages to Cristiano Ronaldo but he is not in the same world", Nicholas told Sky Sports.

City's interest in Lemar seems slightly questionable, with a host of quality wingers already on the books and the attacking target thought to be a prolific goal-scorer who can play on the flanks, such as Alexis Sanchez and Kylian Mbappé.

Elsewhere, reports in Spain claim Arsenal have had a bid for Borussia Dortmund star Ousmane Dembele rejected.

Arsenal are now gearing up for their crunch Community Shield clash against Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday as they look to win the first trophy available to them this season.
