After a nasty collision with Yoan Moncada earlier this week, Chicago White Sox outfielder Willy Garcia could miss the rest of the season after suffering a broken jaw.

The team announced Thursday that Garcia will have a plate inserted in his jaw and is expected to miss four to six weeks.

The up-and-coming outfielder initially underwent a CT Scan on Wednesday in Chicago while Garcia will now be forced to undergo a surgical procedure in order to fix the damage.

Moncada kneed a sliding Garcia in the head as the two converged on a pop-up into short right field Monday night.

The 24-year-old outfielder is now in the midst of his first big league campaign while already making 40 regular-season appearances atop the highest level. Garcia is batting.258 with two homers and 11 RBIs in 40 games with the White Sox.
