Steve Harvey has come clean about the leaked staff memo that got him in hot water earlier this year, and says it was a learning experience for him.

'It was something I wrote a year ago and someone didn't get a job coming to LA and they got pissed, ' he said.

"I learned two things from that email..."

'The email was out there and it wasn't a big deal to me at all, ' he said.

"I was OK until I saw it on CNN and that's when I know I wa in a lot of trouble", Harvey continued, bringing up the media firestorm that surrounded the controversy.

Harvey said he thought the e-mail was "cute" but sees why not everyone else did.

"It really wasn't that big a deal", Harvey said, adding that he wrote the note a year ago.

Harvey, who was promoting his new, Los Angeles-based syndicated show titled 'Steve, ' called himself a congenial guy.

"The current staff that we have is because the type of the show that we're doing", Farley said, noting that numerous new staffers have experience in live news and all come from different background and settings, which will benefit the changes in format and tone on the new show.

Looking forward, Harvey said that his plans for his new daytime show are to bring a late night feel to daytime television.

"Steve" will be the latest vehicle for the comedian, who hosts shows including "Family Feud" and "Little Big Shots". "Takeaway is not what daytime TV needs anymore".

"I never thought I would have had this kind of success on TV", he said. "God just shined a light on me". I think that's what's missing after doing daytime for five years.
