The Jets received a scare on Thursday as prized rookie Jamal Adams was forced to leave practice with an ankle injury.

It doesn't appear serious. Adams, injured in a 7-on-7 drill, watched the rest of practice from the sideline.

"I don't know how bad or how much he sprained it", Bowles said.

After a day off, head coach Todd Bowles liked his team's effort in a session that included a lot of mixing and matching.

After practice, Adams tweeted that he's OK.

It's been a hard week for Adams, the Jets No. 6 overall pick, who took a lot of grief for his comments regarding CTE at a fan forum on Monday.

Adams is the most highly regarded of the five rookie defensive backs on the Jets training camp roster, with another SEC product in former Florida safety Marcus Maye competing for a spot on the 53-man squad.

"I think that as a team we were sloppy", he said and later added, "They practiced hard".

Adams spoke to reporters on Tuesday, attempting to clarify his controversial remarks from a fan forum.

Earlier this week, Adams created a firestorm after he said: "If I had a ideal place to die, I would die on the field".

"You knew what he meant, but when there's no news going on and you want to make news, you can make news anytime you want", he said.
