With a little over a week to go before the start of the Premier League season, Tottenham stand out like a sore thumb in the summer transfer market.

Some find this hugely refreshing.

Onomah, 20, has made 13 Premier League appearances for Spurs and 32 in total since making his debut in 2015 but found it hard to force his way into Mauricio Pochettino's plans last term.

Saying that, it would surprise few if Tottenham do bring in one or two new players before the window closes; this week's big rumour saw Spurs linked with Diego Simeone's son.

England U20 World Cup victor Josh Onomah is set to join Aston Villa on loan from Spurs to provide cover for the injured Jack Grealish.

Onomah's move to Aston Villa was trumpeted by the Mirror's Darren Lewis on Thursday night on social media.

The 20-year-old box-to-box midfielder, who won the World Cup with England's Under-20s this summer, is expected to be announced within the next 48 hours.

Hearing Aston Villa have landed the loan signing of Spurs midfielder Josh Onomah.

Onomah is a highly versatile player, who can operate in all areas of midfield.

And with his squad packed full of central midfield options, Pochettino has chose to send the youngster to Aston Villa where he will fill in for Grealish who is out for three months with a kidney injury, the Mirror reports. It is not yet clear whether Onomah will feature in that contest.

The youngster is under contract at Spurs for another three years.
