Veteran actor Dilip Kumar admitted in hospital

Veteran actor Dilip Kumar was admitted to in the ICU at Lilavati hospital in Mumbai.

The actor, who made various visits to the hospital in the last few years, was last admitted there in December after he complained of fever and swelling in his right leg. Dr Ravi Shankar said to The Asian Age, "The actor was hospitalised after complaining of dehydration. He is stable", Ravishankar, CEO of the facility at Bandra West, told news agency IANS. He added, "Doctors are keeping a close watch on Dilip Kumar". Dilip Kumar has has become a victim of death hoax several times. "Thank you for all the care and wishes", Shaheen tweeted, referring to the actor by his birth name. "My health makes it hard to travel and be there personally, but thank you". He was accompanied by wife Saira Banu. Allah's mercy has been upon us, my health has been much better this Ramazan. The 94-year-old is suffering from a renal shutdown. The veteran actor was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India's highest award in cinema, in 1994 and the Padma Vibhushan, the country's second-highest civilian award, in 2015. He has acted in films like Devdas, Mughal-e-Azam, Ganga Jamuna, Naya Daur and Madhumati among others.

Born in Pakistan as Yusuf Khan, Dilip Kumar was last seen on the silver screen in Qila in 1998.
