A spokesperson for the White House denied the veracity of the statement to the sports publication.

But he has spent a good deal of time away from the White House, including 21 of his first 26 weekends by CNN's count, mostly at his luxury Mar-a-lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, where the Versailles-like decor is closer to that of his own Manhattan penthouse in Trump Tower than the historic White House digs.

Just fivce days after being sworn in as President, Trump told The New York Times he thought the White House is lovely. It appears Trump actually hates the presidential residence.

"There's something very special when you know that Abraham Lincoln slept there", Mr. Trump said.

The current president's attitude towards the White House is markedly different from his predecessor, President Barack Obama, who was fond of saying the D.C. lodging was a "people's house" and had organized many memorable events, featuring him having the time of his life. "There's a lot of history". "Thank you to all the White House ushers, butlers, maids, chefs, florists, gardeners, plumbers, engineers & curators for all you do every day", Chelsea Clinton tweeted on Tuesday evening, citing the highlighted quote disparaging the place she called home for eight years. The story recounts a scene in which Trump was chatting with some club members at his golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey.

"As President, Trump has already made four visits to the club", Golf Magazine's Alan Shipnuck reports in the latest issue.

"He has his own cottage adjacent to the pool; it was recently given a secure perimeter by the Secret Service, leading to the inevitable joke that it's the only wall Trump has successfully built". Last November, the then-president-elect held a cocktail party and dinner at Bedminster on the same weekend he was scheduled to interview candidates for his Cabinet.

During dinner, Trump also told his club members, "This is my real group". I see all of you.
