Originally released on PS4 with PS VR support and PC, and quickly picking up the VR option on the latter platform a few months later, it also landed on Switch back in May. Players can make only a couple of mistakes while navigating the blisteringly fast track before they must restart at level checkpoints. There are nine levels, each with a mini boss and a final boss.

A pounding soundtrack and unique visual effects made this one of the most engrossing VR titles for PSVR and PC VR headsets. It's one of the best indie and rhythm games of all time, though the difficulty is nothing to scoff at. That only left out Xbox One, but that's about to change on August 18 when Thumper infects Microsoft's console with its brutal rhythms. The "rhythm-violence" game Thumper will arrive on the console on August 18th. It's also possible that the game will be compatible with the Xbox One X upon the platform's release as Drool, Thumper's developer, states "we think Thumper looks unbelievable in native 4K" Drool has also noted that for this release, the team chose to take full advantage of the console's controller vibrations to slightly adjust with each maneuver the player makes.
