President Trump vowed to "take all necessary steps" to ensure the security of the USA and its allies.

"All parties should have a correct understanding of this", it said, adding the worldwide community widely recognised China's efforts to seek a resolution.

"The test-fire reconfirmed the reliability of the ICBM system, demonstrated the capability of making a surprise launch of the ICBM in any region and place any time, and clearly proved that the whole U.S. mainland is in the firing range of the DPRK missiles, (Kim) said with pride", KCNA said. Pyongyang is determined to develop its nuclear and missile program and does not care about military threats from the US and South Korea. "They aren't related. They should not be discussed together".

On Monday, two USA officials told Reuters that North Korea's latest test of an intercontinental ballistic missile has shown that Pyongyang now may be able to reach most of the continental United States. Our foolish past leaders have allowed them to make hundreds of billions of dollars a year in trade, yet they do nothing for us with North Korea, just talk.

Tensions on the Korean Peninsula have been ratcheted up since the start of a year ago, with North Korea testing two nuclear bombs and test-firing a series of missiles.

US President Donald Trump condemned the missile launch and said the United States would act to ensure its security.

But if North Korea's assertions about Friday's test are true, Pyongyang may be even more advanced in its missile program than previously thought. In response, the U.S. flew two two supersonic B-1B bombers over the Korean peninsula.

Abe told reporters that he is yet to find a peaceful solution to the peaceful issue.

The US President also sent out a tweet saying he was "disappointed in China".

"International society, including Russian Federation and China, needs to take this seriously and increase pressure", the premier said.

Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga noted: "The role that China can play is extremely important. Japan intends to call on those countries involved - including the UN, the United States and South Korea to start, but also China and Russian Federation - to take on additional duties and actions to increase pressure".

Mr Suga declined to give details about what those steps might be.
