Donald Trump has reportedly signed the legislation passed in the House and Senate imposing sanctions on Russian Federation for their interference in the 2016 presidential election.

The package introduces tough additional sanctions against Russian Federation over alleged meddling in last year's election and its annexation of the Crimea peninsula from Ukraine.

The Senate passed the bill, 98-2, two days after the House pushed the measure through by an overwhelming margin, 419-3.

But on Tuesday, U.S Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, said he and the President are not "very happy" about the bill.

But key Republican and Democratic lawmakers said that weakening congressional review was not on the table when they were finalizing the legislation.

Unlike other legislation he has signed, Trump did not have a White House photo op with the text. "I think the president accepts that", he said. "The administration - knowing that unless it's way out of bounds - likely they have the flexibility to do what they need to do".
