Thorne, a veteran scribe most famous for working with J.K. Rowling on the stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, has been tapped to write the second draft of the untitled Star Wars Episode IX, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In addition to Wonder, Thorne worked on the British TV series The Fades, The Cast-Offs, The Last PanthersandNational Treasure. Bringing in another professional opinion will likely improve the script - even a talented duo like Trevorrow and Connolly probably needs editing - but fans have reacted with overwhelming disappointment to the news.

Jack will be joining the Star Wars writing team pretty late in the game, considering a first draft has already been written by the confirmed director (and legend), Colin Trevorrow. For months now, we've had very little reason to think about Episode IX, but that film is still taking shape ahead of production next year, and now that development process includes a new writer. The site mentions Star Wars: The Last Jedi "may also need script changes", so consider it now unconfirmed.

It seems Disney isn't happy with the scripts for Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: Episode IX. Which, again, is a good thing, if we want Episode IX to be as good as it can be.

'This movie, it sends her off in an incredible, unbelievable way, ' actor John Boyega, 25, who plays Finn in the franchise, told ABC News. That's the beauty of it: She lives forever in a sense'.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi finished filming, so any rewrites would be for reshoots.
