According to the cabinet decision, Chitra will get a monthly sum of Rs 1000 under the Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam scholarship for young sports persons implemented by the Kerala State Sports Council.

Vineeth was earlier felicitated by the Kerala Football Association along with defender Anas Edathodika for their excellent performances throughout the 2016-17 season. Further, Chitra will also be eligible for a daily allowance of Rs 500 towards her training and food expenditure. Later, he was sacked from the office for low attendance.

She was excluded from the Indian Athletic Team participating in the World Athletic Championship to be held in London by Athletic Federation of India saying that her timing was not close to the standard set by the AFI. PUChitra, who had recently won a gold in the women's 1500m event in the Asian Athletics Championships in Bhubaneshwar, filed the petition after she was excluded from the Indian squad by the federation.

The government chose to extend monetary support to the athlete in view of her brilliant performance and her poor family background, the statement said. This followed her request to the government for a job.

Chitra, hailing from a poor family in Mundoor in Palakkad, has won many National and worldwide gold medals in race items.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had appealed to the Union Government to reinstate the footballer because his long leave from office was imperative for his training and matches. She will be given Rs 25,000 each month as practice allowance.

Finding prima facie contempt, the Kerala High Court Tuesday referred to a division bench a contempt plea filed by PU Chitra alleging that its order directing the AFI to ensure her participation in the World Athletics Championships had not been complied with.

He was appointed as an auditor in the office four-and-half years ago through sports quota. Since he was busy with his schedule he couldn't attend his office regularly.
