Video has gone viral of a New York Yankees fan calling a developmentally disabled child "retarded" during a game. The young boy is autistic, and his parents believe he kicked the seat of the man in front of him, which is why that fan became outraged.

She added that Yankee security wasn't very helpful, "We asked for a place for him to go".

DiMarco told News 12 that Luciano has sensory issues and doesn't understand social cues, which sometimes makes him unruly. DiMarco says that until she hears back from the Yankees, she won't attend any more games. Recalling her son's reaction to the man's rant, "He covered his ears and started hysterically crying and shaking while Yankees security, ushers just stood there".

Danny DiMarco said his son Luciano, 4, can't watch his favorite team without hearing the word "retarded" - the insult a boorish fan hurled at the boy during a game Tuesday night. "We have also spoken directly and at length to the family affected, and hope to have all of them back to Yankee Stadium as our personal guests".

A team spokesman said the timing of the altercation made it hard for staff to talk to everyone involved, and move the family from their seats. "The New York Yankees have absolutely no tolerance for this type of abhorrent fan behavior".

They have launched a full investigation in to the incident, and are in talks with the DiMarcos.
