Debuting along with the release of Logan back in March, the first promo for Deadpool 2 was a hilarious skit that saw the Merc with the Mouth totally fail to play the hero and save an old man from being shot down by a mugger.

For months people have been wondering if that man in the Deadpool 2 teaser is indeed Uncle Ben.

A popular fan theory states that this old guy was actually Peter Parker's Uncle Ben, as the incident kind of mirrors the death of Spidey's ill-fated uncle in most versions of the story.

"That's a really interesting question", Leitch told HuffPo, who described his tone as "coy".

"I think that people should continue to theorize who that old man was", he added, fueling further speculation. Thanks to the circumstances that he died in, and with Deadpool getting a little too excited about some Ben & Jerry's ice cream lying beside the body, it is certainly possible that the deceased was Uncle Ben.

He didn't confirm if it was Uncle Ben but he also didn't outright deny it. However, this is Deadpool, and Fox could just be poking fun at their studio rivals. Obviously, including Uncle Ben in the Foxverse would open a whole can of worms when it comes to legal issues and rights. That being said, we have already know that Sony plans to open the door to its Spider-Man villainverse with the likes of Venom and Silver & Black, so Fox could be following suit. It looks like there will be some pretty famous comic book faces making an appearance, this time round.

Deadpool 2opens in theaters on June 1, 2018.

Deadpool and Spider-Man have a long history together.
