Morgan says he's a better man since the 2014 roadway accident that left him critically injured and killed his friend, comedian James McNair.

When asked why he opted not to do a solo star vehicle Thursday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, Morgan became contemplative about his post-accident life and career.

Morgan's remarks were made during a Q&A session to promote his new TBS comedy series, "The Last O.G". They say nine months... Maybe I'm just a better man. "It's bigger than me".

Morgan said he takes breaks on set and is encouraged to do so by his production staff and fellow cast members. "We just lucked up and got who we wanted with the folks that could do it". I know it ain't about me. Sit down.' So I'm good.

In the comedy, Morgan stars as Tray, an ex-con who is released from prison after 15 years only to find that world has drastically changed since he went inside. In addition to his newly gentrified Brooklyn neighborhood, he is shocked to learn he is father to twins with his former girlfriend (Haddish), who has since moved on and married a successful white man. In order to provide for them, and himself, Tray must once again lean on skills he honed in the clink to get by.

Tracy Morgan wants to be clear: "The Last O.G." is not "a black show". "This is a show about humanity".

Both Cedric and Morgan were asked about what it takes to be amusing, for which Morgan had a pretty strong metaphor: "It's like getting into bed with a woman who says, 'Make me come, ' you gotta be willing to come". I'm taken care of by my people and I love them with my heart and thank you for thinking about that. "It's about humanity - second chances, redemption".

Asked what it meant to him to make his return to TV in what could be viewed as his own second chance, Morgan said he had only one response: "Thank God". "If I hadn't gotten hit by that truck, I wouldn't be able to make the impact on the world I am today", he said.

The Last O.G. premieres with back-to-back episodes on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on TBS, before launching in its regular time slot at 10:30 p.m. the following week.
