Larry David and Bernie Sanders, who became connected to through the "Seinfeld" co-creator's impersonation of the politician past year during the presidential election, are distantly related.

This is not a drill: Larry David and Bernie Sanders are related to each other by blood.

In an upcoming episode of "Finding Your Roots", a PBS program in which celebrities find out more about their lineage and history, David will learn he has genealogical ties to the senator and former presidential candidate, who he channeled for numerous appearances on "SNL" during the election.

"I was very happy about that", David said, according to Variety. Fans of "Seinfeld", which David co-created with comedian Jerry Seinfeld, noticed early on during Sanders' presidential campaign that he sounded uncannily like David, especially the latter's imitation of the late New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner. "I thought there must have been some connection".

At the press event, David said that after the first Democratic primary debate in 2015, "SNL" producer Lorne Michaels began getting calls to have David play Sanders.

David added that initially, Emanuel suggested he impersonate Sanders in a video and post it to the Internet, but David was uninterested that.

Apparently, David and Sanders are "distant cousins", a fun fact David let slip at a recent promotional Q&A for the new season of "Curb".
