Its MyLink infotainment system served as the platform for Android Auto, which was integrated directly onto the dashboard's 7-inch touchscreen.

The company said Waze is not yet compatible with Apple CarPlay, which only supports audio and messaging apps, though it is investigating integrating it with the SmartDeviceLink system, which would enable it to be used on some in-car touchscreens.

Google's traffic and navigation app Waze is headed to Android Auto, allowing you to "navigate with Waze via your vehicle's in-car display, touch screens, steering wheel buttons, and other console-mounted controls", Google says.

This is still a big update for those who have or are looking into purchasing (or leasing) a new automobile that has Android Auto. We gave Android Auto high marks for its Google Maps navigation, large selection of third-party maps, and "good voice recognition".

If you've ever got an Uber and had a peak at which navigation app they were using, chances are you've seen Waze. Those who have used Waze for a long time on mobile devices will be glad that it's finally available on Android Auto.

You'll be able to navigate to any pre-programmed destinations in your Waze app like home or work with a single tap.

After two months of beta testing, Waze for Android Auto is officially here, and it's everything we love about the mobile app and more.

Waze has always been distinguished by "gamifying" the collection of travel data, encouraging users to report road hazards, construction, and even police locations by awarding users points, badges, and avatar upgrades.

Access your personalized Waze experience from your phone on your car's bigger screen.
