Musician and actor Jared Leto is reportedly in talks with Sony to join the film "Bloodshot", which is the second film in a five-picture-deal with comic-book publisher Valiant Entertainment.

The same role of Bloodshot is being played by actor Jason David Frank in the upcoming digital series Ninjak vs. the Valiant Universe, and the two actors pretty much couldn't be more different from one another.

The first of the films in development in "Harbinger", which is being produced by Neal Moritz and centres on a superhero Peter Stanchek called a "harbinger".

The movie based on the 1992 Valiant Comics title, created by Kevin VanHook, Yvel Guichet, Don Perlin and Bob Layton. The classic original character of the early '90s was mob enforcer Angelo Mortalli recruited into Project Rising Spirit to become the ultimate killer against his will - definitely more suited to Leto's style. It could be the beginning of a powerful franchise for both Sony and Leto. He instead goes into Witness Protection, but is betrayed by an Federal Bureau of Investigation agent guarding him, kidnapped and forcibly subjected to an experimental program in which his body is injected with microscopic computers called nanites. His mind is wiped clean (so they think) and he's infused with nanites to turn him into a super soldier with inhuman strength and healing ability.

The studio hasn't provided a release date for their Bloodshot film as yet. The character will be introduced in "Harbinger", with "Bloodshot" following a year later.

Bloodshot has a director (Dave Wilson) and an Oscar nominated screenwriter (Arrival's Eric Heisserer, who we spoke to about the Valiant movies and his comics work here), and now Sony is looking to find the right star.
