White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer resigned on Friday over the appointment of Wall Street financier Anthony Scaramucci as communications director, reported The Associated Press.

This comes in the wake of reports that Trump had been inquiring on his ability to pardon aides and perhaps even himself.

Handling host Jake Tapper easily during an appearance on CNN's "State of the Union," Scaramucci denounced Donald Trump Jr.'s meeting with a Russian attorney as a "non-event".

Scaramucci dismissed talk about Trump preparing to pardon people in an effort to stop the Russian Federation investigations or perhaps protect himself, saying, "He has no one to pardon".

"Pardons have not been discussed", Sekulow said.

New White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci addresses the daily briefing at the White House in Washington, US, July 21, 2017.

He added, "There's no need for him to pardon anybody".

He touched on a frequent criticism President Donald Trump makes towards the news media, which he often refers to as "fake news".

"The truth of the matter is that the president is not going to have to pardon anybody because the Russian Federation thing is a nonsensical thing", he said. However, the real similarities come when you match up statements made by Scaramucci during his first days in office with quotes from Futurama. "And pardons are not on the table".

Speaking on Fox News in 2015, Scaramucci launched a scathing attack on Donald Trump saying that he was a "hack politician" who was "anti-American". "I think we've got to just radio signal the direction very, very clearly". With an end to his time at the White House coming under the circumstances of an apparent fall-out with Trump, it would be interesting to see where next he goes and what things he would be willing to say. "I've got a strong personality".

Michael Smerconish scored what he called Sean Spicer's "exit interview" as White House press secretary, though he didn't realize it at the time, the CNN host said Saturday.
