Tucker to Trump: 'Lay Off Jeff Sessions - He's Your Friend'

"He's your friend - one of the very few you have in Washington". But it could have been a tactic by Trump with which to cuddle the alliance of many who have distrusted Sessions, both in his dealings with Russian Federation and in some of his proposals as Attorney General.

"Pay less attention to the New York Times and more to Matt Drudge", Carlson said. "That's not just a criticism; that's an insult".

After stating that Sessions is the closest ally Trump has in the administration and the one who made the biggest sacrifice by giving up a Senate seat he could have held forever, Tucker listed off all of the ways Sessions is trying to implement Trump's agenda.

One of the big takeaways from his conversation with the paper was his harsh criticism of Attorney General Jeff Sessions over Sessions' decision to recuse himself from the Russian Federation probe.

"Sessions should have never recused himself".

Carlson said Sessions, a former Alabama senator, truly stuck his neck out to support Trump. "And if he was going to recuse himself he should have told me before he took the job and I would have picked somebody else", Trump told the New York Times.

Despite the tension, Sessions has not resigned from his post, instead asserting Thursday that "I plan to continue to do [my job] as long as that is appropriate".

Sessions is still the Attorney General of the USA and the reports of his reaction after the Trump statement was that he was not going to leave the position.
