Pakistan Army has captured a critical high peak Burkh Muhammad Kandao during Khyber IV Operation along Pak-Afghan Border, stated Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The mountain top itself was cleared in an operation carried out by the Special Services Group (SSG) on Friday night.

The operation was initially expected to be slow because of hard terrain, thick forests and mining of the area by terrorists, but is now said to be ahead of the schedule.

The media wing of military stated that it is a major success for Pakistan Army as it has cleared the area and forces have established posts on 12,000 feet high mountain.

Khuber IV is launched under Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad in Rajgal Valley of Khyber Agency.

The military had earlier announced it had cleared large swathes of Rajgal Valley as troops advanced from multiple directions to "exterminate and debilitate the terrorists".

During the operation to clear Brekh Top, many "terrorists" were killed with a few managing to escape to Afghanistan, Geo TV reported.

The mountain top was planned to be cleared little later as per initial plan but with high tempo operation it has been cleared well ahead of planned timings, the statement said. Terrorists gave stiff resistance to the Pakistani troops but were unable to sustain for long.

DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor said that the operation has been launched to wipe out terrorists and consolidate gains made in other military operations to further enhance the security of Pakistan's borders. "Terrorists hideouts dismantled, cache of Improvised Explosive Devices, arms and ammunition recovered", said the statement on Saturday.
