One civilian was killed and another injured after the army allegedly opened fire in central Kashmir's Budgam district following an incident of stone throwing on Friday afternoon. The protesters pelted stones on a patrol of Army's 53-Rashtriya Rifles patrol which resorted to firing to disperse protesters in which a youth identified as 18-year-old Tanveer Wani was hit by a bullet on head.

Tanveer Ahmad Wani is said to have succumbed to his injuries, while the other injured has been hospitalised.

Reports said intense stone pelting protests erupted in Beerwah after Friday congregratonal prayers.

Police officials confirmed the killing of Tanveer to Rising Kashmir. Authorities have sealed all roads leading to United Nations Office in Srinagar. A large part of the city remains under curfew-like restrictions.
