"Usually what they want to hear is 'I'm sorry", said Laurie Levenson, a law professor at Loyola University.

He was joined by his attorney, Malcolm LaVergne, as well as his daughter: Arnelle Simpson addressed the board at her father's hearing once again, after previously testifying at a court hearing in Las Vegas in 2013.

Nevada's decision is unsurprising, as many legal experts predicted the parole-board hearing would be successful for Simpson, 70, who soon will no longer be known as Inmate No. 1027820.

Simpson's 2008 conviction came 13 years to the day after he was found not guilty by a jury in Los Angeles on charges he murdered his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. He was sentenced to 33 years in prison but became eligible for parole after nine.

At his sentencing hearing, Simpson argued that he was attempting to get family heirlooms and personal items back from memorabilia dealers, including Fromong.

Darden said he believes board members will "unfortunately" grant Simpson parole, but he doesn't think he should be since he hasn't yet been "reformed and rehabilitated".

Officers walk toward the entrance to Nevada's Lovelock Correctional Center in Lovelock, Nev., where former NFL football star O.J. Simpson is being held Thursday, July 20, 2017.

"I've basically lived a conflict-free life", Simpson said during the hearing.

Out on parole after nine years and richer than most Americans nearly immediately.

Pardo said he warned Simpson about the Las Vegas meeting that eventually got Simpson convicted in 2008 of kidnapping and robbery.

Simpson also told the panel that he had taken a course in Lovelock called "alternative to violence" and a class in computers.

The commissioners are not allowed to consider Simpson's murder trial when making their ruling.

Simpson appeared before four members of the Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners through a video teleconference, dressed in a light-blue button-down shirt.

Simpson has said he will move back to Florida when he's released.
