Are you looking forward to Shazam?

The report also confirms rumors that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will not be in the movie as Captain Marvel's nemesis Black Adam. (Three guesses as to what.) Peter Safran, also of Annabelle: Creation along with DC's Aquaman, is now in talks to join as a producer, with the film headed towards a January or February 2018 production start ahead of its planned 2019 release date.

Dwayne Johnson is attached to play the villain/anti-hero Black Adam, who gets his powers from the same wizard Shazam, but it's now uncertain whether he'll play the character first in this movie or in the also-in-development Black Adam solo flick. Warner Bros. announced plans for a Black Adam solo film early this year.

More news on Shazam as we learn it! That could change this weekend, of course, with Comic-Con International revving up in San Diego. While Justice League is in post-production and Aquaman is in the midst of filming, Warner Bros. had been mulling a number of different projects in various stages of development to go next.

David Sandberg, the horror filmmaker behind "Lights Out" and "Annabelle: Creation", will direct the film.

A Shazam! film has been in the works since the early 2000s, passing through the hands of a half-dozen or more screenwriters over the years.

According toThe Hollywood Reporter, Shazam! may start principal photography sometime in January or February 2018.
