Sir Philip Green has made a second key retail appointment after raiding Burberry for a chief executive for his Topshop fashion chain.

He succeeds Mary Homer who left in March to join The White Company.

Topman managing director Philip Cooke's position will remain the same.

Price has been with Burberry for a decade, where he is responsible for the luxury retailer's women's, men's wear accessories and kidswear.

Mr Price has a deep background in U.S. retail, having worked at Lucky Brand Jeans, Banana Republic and beginning his fashion retail career at Bloomingdales.

However, it was United States department store chain Bloomingdales where he started his retail career.

"I believe Paul will be a great catalyst in leading the next phase of TopShop/TopMan's global expansion", said Green.

Karren Brady, who recently took up the role of non-executive chairman of Taveta Investments, the parent company of Arcadia, added she was "delighted that Paul will be joining the team and I am very much looking forward to a new and exciting period for Topshop/Topman".
