USA stock markets were mixed at opening on Monday, ahead of a week when many major USA companies are scheduled to report their quarterly earnings to investors.

Shortly after the opening bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 7.86 points, or 0.04 percent, to 21,629.88.

The Nasdaq gained 1.97 (+0.03 percent) to close at 6,314.43, while the S&P 500 finished at 2,459.14, down 0.13 (-0.01 percent) from its open. The Nasdaq eked out a gain, rising 1.97 points, or 0.03%, to 6314.43.

Yet investors are largely looking toward a full slate of second-quarter earnings reports out this week (although today's calendar was light on reports).

Wall Street closed mixed on Monday ahead of several key earnings reports this week. Technology stocks were higher for the day with the S&P 500 technology sector increasing 0.02%. Now, Dow Jones is trying to increase the number of women in executive roles by 40 percent, creating a mentorship program and adjusting some salaries, The Huffington Post reports.
