J&K: Army jawan shoots his senior dead

The Hindustan Times reported that Thapa told the unnamed junior officer that he would notify his commanding officer regarding the alleged use of a mobile phone while on duty.

An Army Major has been shot dead by a jawan in north Kashmir's Uri sector in Baramullah district late on Monday after he apparently reprimanded him for using cellphone.

According to the police, Major Shikar Thapa of 8 Rashtriya Rifles, posted at Buchar post near Line of Control, was sacked upon allegedly by Naik Kathiresan G after an altercation over some dispute. The jawan was pulled up and warned of being marched up to senior officers next day.

Meanwhile, Army officials have confirmed the fratricidal killing, that of a fellow soldier or superior.
