According to Hyundai, the i30 Fastback is the first five-door coupe in the small vehicle segment, though in reality the Korean company has simply revisited the liftback school of design made popular by Japanese hatches in the 80s and 90s. The i30 Fastback is also 115mm longer than the hatch, which also contributes to a sleeker profile.

Every model in the i30 lineup will be built at Hyundai's facility in Nosovice, Czech Republic.

Design wise, the i30 N features an increased wheel arch with 18-inch wheels or 19-inch wheels, carrying the N logo.

There are five drive modes, including Eco, Normal, Sport, N and N Custom settings, which can be selected by using two dedicated buttons on the steering wheel. The company has also revealed the Hyundai i30 Fastback, a five-door notchback/sedan offering that will join the hatch and Tourer wagon to complete the range early next year. This should help make it the sportiest variant of the regular i30 range, and only to be eclipsed by the new i30 N that will be the first auto from Hyundai's new N high-performance sub brand. The Fastback sits 5mm lower than the hatchback and a slimmer glass line is another contributing factor to this latest version being 30mm lower overall than its siblings. At the rear, the triangular third brake light in the new glossy black spoiler and the double muffler exhaust underline the sporty stance of this hatchback. When designing the i30 Fastback we played with the proportions of the i30 range by reducing the height of the Cascading Grille and lowering the roof line. "With this innovative approach to compact cars, we enable our customers to make an expressive statement when driving the Fastback".

Powering the Hyundai i30 Fastback will be a choice of either a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine making 118bhp or a 1.4-litre four-cylinder engine producing 138bhp.

The Korean brand's very first N model, a much-anticipated one at that, has just been unveiled.
