Many of those emojis might be kissing winky faces, the most popular one on Messenger in the United States, according to statistics released by Facebook to mark the day, which was first proclaimed by Emojipedia in 2014. It is the newest themed day on the block but lots of exciting things have been going on around the world! Jack Brockbank, Guinness World Records Adjudicator, added, "We are incredibly impressed by the level of coordination and timing required to pull off this global record attempt - and it all happened simultaneously!" In Ireland everyone gathered in Dundrum and it looked like great craic! That's insane right? Well, maybe, until you find out five billion emoji are sent on Messenger every day.

Emojis have quite an extensive history.

The most-used emoji on Facebook is the laugh-cry emoji () (also topped most used emoji on Twitter). Spanning three continents, the record saw emoji faces inspired by the film's characters turn up in Dubai, Moscow, London, Dublin, and Sao Paulo, as hundreds of fans dressed as the winningly expressive characters. Globally, the tears of joy face was most used. Ricky Gervais, Patrick Stewart, Anna Faris, Christina Aguilera and T.J Miller will all lend their voices and keep us entertained!
